Wage and Hour Rules Halted!

In an emergency motion, District Judge Amos Mazzant III, of the Eastern District of Texas, granted the State of Nevada, along with 20 other states, a nationwide preliminary injunction to the new wage and hour regulations set to take effect December 1, 2016. Churches, ministries and nonprofits have been preparing for the new wage and hour regulations to take effect December 1, but will now have to wait for the federal court system to determine its fate.  District Judge Mazzant concluded that the Department of Labor may not have the statutory authority to establish the new regulations – thus, enjoining (stopping) the regulation for now.  The case will now likely be appealed by the Department of Labor.
